Welcome to the SCSIWYG ISOZONE

Or how to have fun with isometrics!

  • Isometric Map Editor A first effort visual level editor using an isometric engine

  • Dancing Metrics a matrix, some tiles, nice sine waves... what more could you ask for?

  • Isometric & A* Algorithm a matrix, some tiles, a sort algorithm, and some help from the guys on DirGames-L... what more could you ask for?

If you're looking to learn more about isometric engines, here's a link that explains the basics involved, as well as example code for you to base your work on.

The basic isometric calculations in the isozone interactives are based on the good work of gerbil@theburrow.co.uk. Barry Swan offered up (among other demos!!!) an example of how to create an isometric engine in director; theburrow

The A* basic algorithm was created by John Kanding who was kind enough to make his source available. The code was robust with only a few changes required to integrate it with the isometric system. You can find John's A* implementation here

Any questions about the ISOZONE efforts can be fowarded to dave.
